We invite you to get to know the Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse (PICAA) whose team of Advocates, Forensic Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Therapists offer an array of services to those impacted by sexual, physical, and/or relationship violence. Learn more about their 24-hour hotline, and assistance provided to victims including exams, advocacy, and therapy. SOMATIC STRESS RELEASE
Complete unfinished stress cycles in the body by safely bringing a low-cost stressor to the forefront of the mind, fully embody emotion (did you know that the longest full-body emotional expression can be 60 to 90 seconds long?!), and gently come back to your center as you learn to let go. A range of emotions will be processed, and mindfulness, grounding, and somatic relaxation skills will be practiced. MINDFUL CONNECTION WITH YOGA
Mindful centering and gentle movement are practiced together with an emphasis on the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system, as well as toning the vagal nerve to signify safety and rest in the body. The goal of this workshop is to slow down and develop a connection to and appreciation for one’s body, mind, and overall self. FOOD & YOUR MOOD: THE LINK BETWEEN NUTRITION AND MENTAL HEALTH [WEEK TWO]
Research shows there is a direct link between what we eat and how we feel. During this two-part virtual series, participants learn the impact certain foods have on mood, as well as tips on how establishing a healthy diet can lead to improved mental health and well-being.
